Which email service provider is better?

Out of Hotmail and AOL, which of the two are better?
Which email service provider is better?
I'd say Hotmail because you don't have to have the adjacent services related to keeping that account open. Besides, AOL is so passe these days. At least Micro$oft is trying to keep up...I wouldn't expect AOL to last too much longer.

Whats the best free anonymous email provider?

It all depends on your definition of anonymous. If you're looking at the average web site or person receiving your email from knowing who you are that is one thing. If you think you can be truly anonymous from government agencies and such it isn't going to happen.

If you want to be relatively anonymous for web sites and such it doesn't matter what email provider you use. Yahoo mail will work just fine. Just sign up under and alias.

However regardless of what email service you use there are other considerations that can be used to track you and reveal your true identity. Read the article below for a nice explanation of these scenarios.

How do I restore bookmarks after changing from one internet provider to yahoo as my email>?

When we changed from AT%26amp;T Yahoo, to just Yahoo, it asked to import bookmarks, and we clicked import, it showed to import 333 bookmarks, but they are not found anywhere. I have since went in and created some new ones.

I went out and looked everywhere from bookmarks and cannot find them. Could you please help us to locate the bookmarks?
How do I restore bookmarks after changing from one internet provider to yahoo as my email%26gt;?
You are looking in the wrong place.

There are two places where you may see the "Bookmarks" or "Favorites".

1) The Yahoo toolbar - that is the thing at the top of this page you are looking at with all the buttons. Its also the one with the little indicator telling you you have new mail.

2) the other place is Internet Explorer's favorites. that is the yellow star near the top left of the page (IE7) or the yellow star in the Internt Explorer toolbar (IE6). You can check if the 333 bookmarks you imported are in Internet Explorer right now by pressing Ctrl+B (at the same time). This will bring up a list of Internet Explorers bookmarks. See if they are in there.

If they are not in one place, they are in the other.
Reply:If it said they were imported... then they were imported. Look carefully... there should be a folder of some sort in your Bookmarks list that says "imported bookmarks."

Can NSPCC trace an your email or internet service provider?

if you email about someone when you repor them anonymous.
Can NSPCC trace an your email or internet service provider?
No not unless they request this from the police but they would only do this if there was an urgent desperate need for it ie in the event of a death or serious sexual assault and even then the isp provider does not have to give your details as they are governed by data protection... so yes the police can find out but no the NSPCC can not.

Now this is something I've wanted to know for ages.

Well, first off, set Mozilla as your default browser and customize it to open all HTML etc docs.

But, as for MSN, I haven't a clue how to change that.

So I'll just monitor this thread XD

What is a good inexpensive cheap email account provider. Sadly, Yahoo and Gmail are looking insecure lately.?

I want email with POP3, but with security built in. Other things I don't know much about, but I know there's this thing called PGP out there. Also what about encryption. I feel like I need to worry about my privacy. Also, I'm not sure I want to support Yahoo through their email accounts when I think they may be making unethical decisions in countries like china. I think I'm looking for more security through obscurity, more effective spam filtering. overall just better.

Talk directly to Yahoo.

If you are legitimate, they will sort it out for you.

If you are distributing junk mail, hopefully they will help you sort out your mailing list to avoid sending your garbage to people who do not want it.

I am hoping there is a way to do this without individual entries iin my empty address book. Can your help?
How do I import my email contacts from a former provider to my new bt email?
First of all you will need to export a file from your old contacts. Save the file as a tab deliminated txt file.

You should be able to import this file into an email program or webmail account (Hotmail, Yahoo etc) which will now contain your email addresses.

If I sign onto my email from different locations, can the email provider(eg. AOL or YAHOO) know where I am?

I travel and use my email from different locations, such as from a hotel, or public library in a different state or country. Would the email providers, such as AOL or Yahoo or hotmail keep track from which location I have accessed my email? Do they remember that kind of information (sign on info)?

Yes, they log the IP address you are connecting from and it goes into thier database.

But I do not know the capabilities of the ISPs though. But to send an email, you are tagged anyway.

Why can't I make Yahoo my default email provider?

I have XP, I have loaded messenger. I have went to tools, options, programs and still do not see yahoo listed anywhere. I have removed and reloaded the program. Still nothing. Help!
Why can't I make Yahoo my default email provider?
It seems like you're asking 2 different questions.

your default email provider has nothing to do with messenger.

If you're talking about getting yahoo email on your desk top you can't unless you buy their premium service. Yahoo email is located online and there is no pop service.

You can make a pop server by using YPOP.com, which will act as a go between and send emails to your computer, when you set it up in your email program.

Now talking about messenger, will only take you to your email if you are logged into messenger and have the option checked. Then when you get an email and you click go to email, it will take you to the internet and sign you into your yahoo email.

If this is not what you're asking, please give a little more detail.

Why would people stop using their current email provider?

Because they found a better one that offers more convenience, ease of use, storage size?

The main thing is the user interface - that we are comfortable with. I have 3 email providers and I find all of them great.

All of those settings basically are configuration settings so that Outlook Express will know where to look for your mail. It's pretty confusing at first, but once you get one set up the rest will be a bit easier.

See the link below for help with Yahoo's SMTP and POP settings (they depend on what version of Outlook you're using). Please note that you won't be able to check your email with another non-Web method unless you have Yahoo Mail Plus (see second link).

Gmail and Hotmail have similar settings - see the third link below for Gmail's settings.

Where can I find a free email provider that doesn't request a first/last name during sign up?
ALL email providers are required by law to obtain personal information about anyone using their service. This is to protect the whole internet from spammers and scam emails. Unless you have anything to hide this should not bother you. It is an imprisonable offence to use false names.

What email provider do you use with Outlook?

Outlook is an Email Client.

It can receive and send email through any provider that offers POP3, IMAP or HTTP email access, or operates through a Microsoft Exchange Server.

To use it, you simply need your settings from your mail provider. Most ISP based emails allow for access through outlook.

Gmail also provides for this. Yahoo Mail only allows POP3 access with their upgraded mail service. Check with your provider to find the settings to access your account.
What email provider do you use with Outlook?
Ideally use the email adress provided by your internet provider, visit their web page and get the details needed from there. You can use other adresses such as Yahoo who provide pop3 forwarding, the drawback with this is that you can download using outlook but not send, so overall your internet provider is the best and easiest to use.

In fact, rather than pay an ISP, you can get yourself a domain (it's hardly 6-10 USD per year) and use google apps for domain. That way you will have ur own unique email (which could be like yourname@yourdomain.com) with 2 GB storage.

For business purposes, which email provider is better to use, Hotmail or Yahoo?

If you have an established business, then you should register the domain name and use the email that it provides. Otherwise, yahoo, hotmail or any other email account doesn't necessarily mean that it's for business.

Just my two cents
For business purposes, which email provider is better to use, Hotmail or Yahoo?
They both suck. Use Google Apps.

Nothing else comes close. Period.

[edit 1] And in response to jpocia03, domain name email sucks as well. Email through registrars is horrible. Email through web hosts (Roundcube, Squirrelmail, Horde) is awful.

Register a domain. Host your email through Google Apps.

If you need help with it, or are interested in getting a domain or a professional web site, contact me through www.derekconjar.com.

[edit 2] Oh, and Buddy Revell, practically any email client allows you to set a vacation message. The beauty of Gmail lies in conversation view (many have tried and none have come close), UI, and a wide array of Firefox extensions and Greasemonkey scripts that allow it to do practically anything.

Who is the best email provider?

I've only used yahoo but occasionally I use msn. I've heard I should use gmail.
Who is the best email provider?
Having used yahoo, hotmail (msn), gmail, and a really odd one that you can find in the sources section, I have to say it depends entirely on how much you use it and what you use it for.

Obviously, yahoo is good if you want to use yahoo answers. That's pretty self evident. I haven't tried using all the new features yet (I had an account a long time ago, then got a new one more recently), but it seems pretty good.

I'd say hotmail is similar to yahoo in a lot of ways. Similar look, similar amount of advertising, similar organization of the mail. Meh. I use it, but I'm not a terrible fan.

I really like gmail. I find it takes a bit of getting used to at first, but I like having the ability to put many different labels on any given e-mail, I like the lack of flashing banner ads, and things just flow a little more cleanly. I also find the built in chat indispensable. It has a few less features than hotmail in terms of making pretty coloured e-mails, underlining stuff, etc, but I've found that I really don't miss that.

The one from abcde.... is really only useful for the ability to have a long e-mail address. You won't get a lot of spam, but you also won't get many e-mails from your friends for some reason....

I'm assuming you are sticking to freely provided webmail. Many internet providers also provide e-mail, and each of those has it's pros and cons. I prefer webmail because it means I can use it wherever I am, and I don't lose it when I switch internet providers.

What is the best email provider to use?

Gmail is the number one email provider around! Yahoo is the second best, and then AOL comes in third. I read that on some pole the other day, and, even tho I don't have AOL, I agree with the gmail and yahoo thing, because I have both of them and Gmail is so great to use! I love it! Yahoo is good too, but I definitely rank Gmail higher! Try it and see for yourself!

Do I use my regular email provider to reply to a post on craigslist?

No you use the craigslist e-mail link. If there is no link the person did not provide an e-mail(bone-heads). If they just put their e-mail in the add, then you can go ahead and use your own e-mail if you want. We have used the craigslist a few times, some of the people have been cool, some have been kind of creepy. Go figure, huh?

then reboot your computer and try your attachments again. hope this helps, good luck.

Thank you

Who do recommend as an email service provider?
You're not going to be able to find this functionality with any major webmail provider, as far as I know. Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail/Live Mail, all require you to sign out first if you want to use another account.

A workaround would be to use the POP3 service of the webmail provider (only gmail is free) and setup a desktop mail client, like Outlook Express (XP) or Windows Mail (Vista) to grab the email. Then, instead of checking all your email accounts through the web browser, you could use the desktop mail client instead.

POP3 access with Yahoo Mail Plus is $20/year, Hotmail/Live Mail Plus is $20/year, GMail is free.
Reply:That's not an issue with Yahoo, it's an issue with you.

Either consolidate your accounts into one email account, or forward the other accounts onto a primary one.

Alternatively, use a local email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird which can download emails from all accounts into one place.

I love using godaddy.com . You can register your domain there, host and get an email package for great pricing! And it's easy to set up!

They register domain names and you can either design the website yourself or they will do it for you (I think its $500). We have never had any problems with them.

"Yahoo! mail plus" offers the ability to attach files of up to 20 MB, but it is not a free service. I found 2 free(!) mail providers which allow this though. Note: if a recipient's mail provider doesn't allow attachments of that size, your mails may not reach their destination! How to make your own EMAIL provider service?

I bought a domain name and running a website. Later I think I might want to provide the users with email service, like for yahoo users can sign up for name@yahoo.com. I want to make my own "name@mydomainname.com" so people can register this service on my site -- how can I do that?
How to make your own EMAIL provider service?
You need to be running a mail server, for this the cheapest and simplest answer is Linux running Postfix and Dovecot as the mail handlers. You would need to subscribe to a fixed IP address, and set your domain registrar's dns A and MX records to point to your IP. You need to forward the smtp and pop3 ports to your IP on the router. You can offer IMAP web mail this way, but will need to set quotas on user mailboxes. You also need to run a database for user and security control if you need to automate user logins, and must be very careful of mail sending security or your site will become an open spam relay and be blacklisted.
Reply:This depends on what software you are running server side. Are you hosting this site on your own personal machine? Or through a hosting company. If you are using your own machine are you running Windows or Linux? If you are hosting from a company, contact them for an account setup. You need to give some more info.

What is the most secure email provider?

What is the most secure email provider? Basically most private, hardest to hack etc etc...
What is the most secure email provider?
Good question, but may not be the right question. Any type of network based conversation, be it e-mail, instant messaging or web-form submission is vulnerable to many types of security risks. Aside from the risk of someone guessing your e-mail password (most common by the way), is a hackers ability to glean the information using a sniffer program. Most e-mail applications will send your message via plain-text across the network. If this is the case, any good sniffer program can read all your e-mails. If protection is vital, consider protecting your e-mail through digital signatures and digital encryption, for more info check out pgp (stands for pretty good privacy) @: www.pgp.com

Does anyone know of an email service provider that has the capacity for me to see if my mail is received?

I would love to find an email service that has the capacity to let me know if my emails have been received and/or read by the person I am sending them to. Does anyone know if there are any such email services out there? Thanx
Does anyone know of an email service provider that has the capacity for me to see if my mail is received?
Honey, there are several mail client, that have 'Read receipt' and 'Delivery reciept'. But since mails work on something called an Exchange Server, with different companies using different Exchange servers, it is very difficult to one Exchange server to get a Read reciept from a Different Exchange Server.

Hears how it works, its like a long piece of thread that goes to the other persons mailbox, the moment, it is read, it will relay information back to the sender that the mail has been read and the thread will be invisibly cut. If however you ask for a 'Delivery', 'Read' and a 'Delete' Receipt, then your mail will have 3 threads. One for each receipt.

AOL, Outlook, Eudora, Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, and nearly every Mail client worth its salt have it.

The catch. You will need to send the mail within the same client.

For instance you will get a delivery, read and delete notification, if you are sending from an AOL address to a AOL Address, and likewise with other clients.

Inter Server receipts are very expensive and come only with one or two custom emails service providers and both of them serve the super rich.

So there you go..

I have aim, gmail, yahoo and my own website pop3 e-mail at the moment and I have used Hotmail too if I want to compare them, hotmail is the worst, gave me 2 mb of space and never increased it!! and I can't add it in Outlook, second worst is Yahoo, specially this new beta mail, which is so slow to load, and they build something like hotmail and aim not their own design and still you can't add it to Outlook (you need to pay Yahoo and Hotmail to be able to add them to Outlook) gmail is the best of them, their software for managing e-mails is not the best but they gave you POP3 which is the best for adding to Outlook and they give you the biggest free inbox available in internet, and they were the first to give such inbox for free, when Yahoo was giving 6 mb and then 4 mb to users and Hotmail was giving 2 mb, Google made gmail and gaved 1GB for free and forced Yahoo and other services to increase their inbox

Knowing email ID is not enough for having access. The password must have been either key-logged or someone might have had access to your computer's cache/temp files.

Both have a good interface and easy to use features. G-mail offers quite a gigantic storage box which is a plus if you like to receive and keep a lot pictures and films.

What email provider really is the best: Google, Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, etc..?

Please tell which one and why. What are some totally awesome features that no other has?
What email provider really is the best: Google, Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, etc..?
- gmail, because it is free and has a large storage;

- you can hook it up to outlook via pop3. so it is very accessible without opening your browser;

- you can also use it as an external hard drive via gdrive (software) to store important files;

- the other emails are all not free for added features and larger storage

How do I change yahoo to my default email provider?

...so that when I click on an email address it will open my yahoo mail?
How do I change yahoo to my default email provider?
Click Start %26gt; Control Panel %26gt; Internet Options %26gt; Programs tab (or on Internet Explorer toolbar, click Tools %26gt; Internet Options %26gt; Programs tab) %26gt; under E-mail click the down arrow and select Yahoo! Mail %26gt; click Apply and OK.

If Yahoo! Mail isn't listed as an option, you will need to install Yahoo! Messenger to put it in the list of email options.

You can download Yahoo! Messenger here:

http://messenger.yahoo.com/

If you already have Yahoo! Messenger, re-install it. If you don't want Yahoo! Messenger and uninstall it, it should leave Yahoo! Mail in the list of email options.

What is a really nice looking email provider other than google, yahoo, hotmail, msn, etc?

Does anyone know of an email provider that has an option within their settings where you can nominate a date -?

in advance, and the email will be sent automatically to a recipient/s? I wish to use this facility for birthdays etc.
Does anyone know of an email provider that has an option within their settings where you can nominate a date -?
no..I don't. But I know that you can go to BirthdayAlarm.com and set up an account where it will send you reminders of your friends birthdays. You can even get e-cards ready ahead of time that it will automatically send on the day you specify.
Reply:There are various web sites that have e cards that can be sent at a predefined date.

Lotus notes and outlook express have a calender function where you first choose a date and time , then can send a reminder e mail to anyone when this date / time occurs.Your e mail can be about anything not just a reminder.

Where can I find an email provider from which I can also send out newsletters?

Yahoo! although great for individual emails, does not cater for large numbers of (non spam) newsletters. I do not want to start a Yahoo group, but simply send newsletters and press releases for an organisation with 6000 members. Not getting on too well with Outlook, not least of all because unlike Yahoo!, it doesn't tell you whether incoming email addresses are already in your address book, and doesn't make it easy to add them either. In these days of technology, I am so surprised to have searched high and low for a package which I thought would be readily available. OK, there's packages such as Constant Contact for mass emailing, but although their newsletters look fab, you cannot scroll your email lists in this system and it's not an email system. Please, can anyone recommend anything that's easy and convenient, with great newsletter potential? Anyone here who knows about newsletter template design and databases etc? Help!!!!
Where can I find an email provider from which I can also send out newsletters?
Here are some excellent places to go for sending out large amounts of email (newsletters), however, they aren't free:

there are many, but if you are looking to send gigs of info, open a free aol account, and use it to access a free xdrive acoount.

With x-drive, you can uplode up to 5 gigs of data and send download links to people so that they can download the file.

I have Outlook Express and no spam, no ads just mail and can be used as an online email same as yahoo or aol etc. Fewer ads in hotmail.com .

they have adverts to pay for themselves and keep them free for you.

if you want no adverts you will have to subscribe to one

What email provider or email client will allow me to only receive email from those on my contact list.?

I just don't want filters I want blocking too. I mean I want them never making it to my in box.
What email provider or email client will allow me to only receive email from those on my contact list.?
Hotmail.

Go to "Options", then select "Filters and reporting." Choose the "Exclusive" option from your junk e-mail filters. According to Hotmail, they will then only allow "messages from your contacts and safe senders, Windows Live Hotmail service announcements, and alerts that you signed up for" to pass through the filter.

What do you look for in an Email Provider?

what features, services, and security measures are important to you? Is there anything that is not being offered by email providers that you'd like to have?
What do you look for in an Email Provider?
Look for the features that best suit your needs.

POP3 account with web access, Spam filtering, mail blocking, and contact lists.

The only feature that need to be implemented into email is the actual name of the person that owns the address.

If everyone was required to provide, Real names, Addresses, and Phone Numbers in their email address then we would have this kind of spam and email fraud that is so prevalent today.

How do I set Yahoo as my email provider in Internet Explorer. It only gives me the option to chose Outlook?

I use Coral Draw to manage my family photos and to have them automatically reduced and put into JPEG format I have to have a set email program. When I go to tools/programs in IE to set an email program all it gives me is Outlook or Express as my options for my email handling. How to I get IE to reconize Yahoo as my program??
How do I set Yahoo as my email provider in Internet Explorer. It only gives me the option to chose Outlook?
This can be done but u cant do it urself. To do this u shall hv to download yahoo messenger 7.5 and then update it. Yahoo will prompt u to update it. During update Yahoo will ask u to set Yahoo mail as ur default mail. Then say yes and Yahoo will do it for u. This is how I did it. U can also do this way.
Reply:open internet explorer and go to tools and then internet options and then write www.mail.yahoo.com and click OK

next time when ever u launch explorer u will see ur mail.yahoo.com as home page, u can also use shortcut --- alt + home to get this page anytime to check e-mails

Reply:the erason it only gives you outlook is because that's the only E-mail program that you have installed on your computer.

No since yahoo mail is not a program, but just service provided over some browser, you can't set to be "your default" e-mail client.
Reply:This option is for programs installed on the local computer. As yahoo is an internet based email and requires no local software you cant set it up this way. Leave it as outlook express then just work on your pictures. When you are ready to email then log in to yahoo and attach the photos from there

Hope this helps
Reply:They used to have a direct download through their help pages but that page doesn't seem to work anymore. What worked for me was downloading Yahoo Messenger with all the extra features. (choose Typical Install) Once I installed it the new option of Yahoo Mail shows in my Internet Options.
Reply:The E-Mail program option in IE is for specifying your local mail software (like Eudora or Outlook).

If you pay for Yahoo Plus ($30/ per year), you can set up your Yahoo account as a POP3 account and access Yahoo mail through a local mail software like Eudora or Outlook.

If all you want is to get to Yahoo mail when you open IE, the you can set it up as the Home Page (under Internet Options) as a previous poster had suggested.

How to change my web/email hosting provider?

My company website was built by a company who also host the site. I have one email address as part of my package as well. The email service is awful a lot of my emails get bounced. I am trying to move away to something more reliable. I am a complete non-techie what do I have to do?
How to change my web/email hosting provider?
Carry out a search on the web for webhosting sites. If you are based in the UK, I would recommend www.easyinternetsolutions.co.uk

They explain their services quite simply and if you email and ask how to switch, I think they will be able to answer your question. I find them pretty quick to respond.
Reply:You'll want to find a hosting provider that will help you move your current website over. It is not hard to do and some will do it for free. I use http://www.hostamina.com for most of my personal and client sites. I know how to do most of the work of transferring a site, but when I don't have the time, they always do it for me. The e-mail system will come along with the site. There is no extra work to change that. Contact the company I mentioned for more details. They will likely help you out!
Reply:You can sign up to a free email service with Yahoo or Hotmail, and others. Let me know if I can help further.

When I click a link to email a web page it opens windows as the email provider. How do i change it to hotmail?
i dont believe that hotmail offers the pop3 service free.. i think you must have a premium account for that (not sure double check my beliefs) you can simply highlight the email address and input it into your hotmail send to address...

you can change which application handles that in your internet options in ie7
Reply:Click Tools, then Internet Options. Click the Programs tab. Click the drop-down in the E-mail field and select Hotmail (now called Windows Live Mail) from the list. Click the Apply button, then the OK button to save your changes.

If people are using the same email provider?
The choice of email provider is completely unrelated to the choice of email software, screen size, screen resolution, font settings, and anything else that might influence the way the email is displayed.
Reply:depends on both partys settings!!!

if u allow his settings come through with an email...then lol depends what size font he likes and what fonty size u like!!!! type thing.

or u can have it so that you ignore his setup and apply ur own so that u view as u wish to!!! type thing.

Reply:Not neccessarily, Font size can depend on many different things, including the Text Size setting on the email software or Internet browser.
Reply:I think it depends on how an individual setup thier font preference.

Use Word as the editor and email format as html. Create a yahoo group of people and send the email to the yahoo group.

Word will format the entire bulletin as html and yahoogroups will send it to your recipients.

What is the best email service provider?

I have 3 email accounts- Hotmail, Yahoo and Gmail, but its annoying using all three at the same time. What one should I use as my default account?
What is the best email service provider?
Yahoo puts advertisements before your mail which makes it difficult to see your mail instantly.

Hotmail deletes your account if you don't use it in one particular time.

Gmail keeps your account forever with some 7GB space and they DONT give your ID to anyone. That only happens if you go to some bad sites and register there. Get Gmail.
Reply:my experience has been better with hotmail over yahoo because i get less junk mail. i would not recommend handing your email address to google they will sell it on and give you load of advertising crape.

thats just my opion. i have a hotmail account for msn and a yahoo account for this... and i dare not look at the yahoo for the 100s email advertising i get.

so thats one vote for hotmail :P

joe:P:D
Reply:Did you know that you can actually get all your mails from yahoo and hotmail to gmail automatically, and also send mails from your yahoo and hotmail account from gmail itself.

These are very simple to do.

However to get mails either mail forwarding, pop or imap should be available in yahoo or hotmail. I don't know if your account will have as yahoo gives pop with certain accounts only and I don't know about hotmail.

Reply:well i'll have to take my chances down talking yahoo on there own site but for me hotmail is better but it depends on a few things

1. if you use msn messenger because then it will tell you when you get an e-mail

2. how much do you use yahoo answers or windows spaces etc because most of them are links and the one you use most you should use for updates

3. how big a nerd are you? ok odd question but in my experience bigger nerds prefer gmail because it is quicker and works with youtube

hope this helps
Reply:I have yahoo, comcast and gmail. I like gmail best. It does not need any special set to work with windows mail on my computer. So when I turn on windows mail it downloads my mail to my computer. Which gives me a back up of all my important emails.

What email service provider can send files of 35mb or more or how do I compress the file?

I need to send a file but it is 40.??? MB and can be compressed to 35.??? MB. I belong to gmail which can send files up to 25 MB. Is there an email service provider that allows me to send the file that I want to send.

Or is there a way to compress it to less than 25 MB? I already used winzip.
What email service provider can send files of 35mb or more or how do I compress the file?
Winzip has a way to split the compressed file into several parts. You can specify how large the parts are, so that they can be emailed.

The recipient saves all the parts (once they arrive) to his local machine, and winzip can reform the original 40Mb file, no problem.

To do the splitting in Winzip, launch it and open the archive of your 40Mb file. Press the shift key and H to Split it. (Or you can click on the menu bar, and go Actions/ Split)

When you see the Split dialog, look at the bottom left. It will have a size there, (something like 1.2 Mb). You can change this to whatever you want. Just select "Other Size" and fill in the "Other Size" field, making sure to select Mb and not Kb, or "bytes".

Winzip will make each part that size, (except the last part, which will just be the remainder of what's left.)
Reply:you can just upload the file in a file sharing host

then give a link in the email
Reply:not sure as i have never done it but i think you could send a file using yahoo messenger.both would need yahoo messenger.also maybe msn messenger might work
Reply:You use Winrar and you compress it into an archive made of 2 parts(part one plus part two) so when someone extracts it, they will need both parts but both parts would be small enough to be emailed.
Reply:For send the big files use rapidshare.com
