What is the big deal with Gmail? I mean... isn't it just like any other online email provider?

Gmail has some features that other webmail providers don't have. For one thing, they offer a TON of storage space. Each user currently has thousands of GB of possible storage space. Secondly, the mail is organized into "conversations". Each message and its replies are displayed together. This makes a lot of sense when you are sending e-mail back and forth to someone because you can keep track of all of the related messages together. Third, instead of storing messages into folders, you can apply labels to messages. This is advantageous because you can only put a message into one folder, but you can apply more than one label. It makes it easier to find messages. Finally, the search function in Gmail is similar to Google, so it makes it easy to find messages that you are looking for. There are other good features of Gmail, but these are some of the best ones. I LOVE Gmail and find its features superior to any other e-mail account I have.

I have a gmail account and i love it love it love it.


There is no banners or ads all over it, i can access it without typing my username and password every time, it helps me read my emails and its easy for me to organize them, i can even check my email with outlook FOR FREE, it gives me news about things i like without making them annoying and over all i give it 10/10 :D just try it and you will see how gooooooood it is :D

Reply:I just switched from Yahoo to gmail. The biggest improvement as far as I am concerned is NO spam!

Reply:well, it is ...now.But it was the first one to provide 1G of email space for free..plus there's great webistes like orkut that need gmail accounts...and then there's youtube and so on...many other gmail websites or partners...google is very well known and the most popular search engines...so everything that goes with it is cool...
Reply:Yes, just like the others. I like Yahoo Mail the best since for $19.95 per year you can get all the ads turned off completely (called Plus service). Gmail's one very cool feature, however, is how it keeps conversation threads together - get a free account and see if that appeals to you.

Reply:Basically from my own experience, gmail is very simple. it still uses the basic email interface unlike other email providers who are implementing more and more graphics and advertisements.





gmail is also embedded with a gtalk where you can chat within gmail itself without downloading the software. The gmail chat is also very simple and fast.





there are many plus points actually with gmail. it has its own embedded office readers, and you can easily send pictures just by using Picasa. Picasa links to you gmail.
